Sunstripes top (english)
Difficulty 2-3 of 5
A simple summer top for all the hot days of the year.
Sunstripes top is knitted from the bottom up. It is loose in the stitches which gives a light and airy knit that is perfect on hot days.
The top can be knitted with or without chest incisions. For best results, choose the size based on your waist circumferent. Here, the top will have a posetive ease of 5-8cm around the waist. At the chest you can make a chest incision which can provide extra space for the chest. If your breast size is larger than the breast measurements as indicated below to your selected size, you should make a breast incision on top. The breast incision is formed on the body with the help of short rows.
The top is split to front and back, and the shape of the sleeve gap is started. From here, the rest of the top is knitted back and forth. The increasing for sleeve gaps and neckline is not symmetrical to each other, it can therefore be difficult to keep track of the increases to each side. To help, diagrams have been prepared for each size, these can also provide a greater visual overview. The straps can be sewn together or knitted together as desired. Neck and sleeve edges are picked up and knitted around.
- Elastic cast on. Described by using 2 needles.
- Increases, both SSK and k2tog and as normal bind off.
- Mattress stitch if you want to sew the straps together, or 3 needle bind off.
- Picking up stitches.
- Short rows if you are knitting with breast incisions
